About Graphic Practice & Name Writing
These training programs focus on the basic motor planning skills needed to make meaningful marks, and write to communicate. Graphic practice incorporates self-regulation and creates a mind-body connection when writing by using music, and verbal paths while making intentional marks. Once exposed to the basic strokes needed to create letters and letter-like formations, students begin on practicing their first names. This begins with tracing before transferring to free writing. This gradual introduction of skills and release of independence provides a firm foundation of confidence for our young students.
About Name Puzzles
Using a students name, this is an engaging way to begin to expose young students to letters and letter sounds. Following the Science of Reading evidence, intentionally exposing students to letters and their sounds is an important part of their early literacy education.
